Doctor of Social Science (DSocSc) Programme

The Doctor of Social Science (DSocSc) at University College Cork is a four-year advanced programme designed for experienced professionals in public sector agencies, voluntary/community organizations, educational institutions, and international non-governmental organizations. Programme Structure

  • Semester 1: Research Methods and Skills 2: Quantitative, State and Society
  • Semester 2: The Politics of Social Research, Designing for Research and Evaluation

• Year Three: Supervised research/thesis work (90 credits)
• Year Four: Supervised research/thesis work (90 credits) culminating in the production of a 60,000-word thesis

The programme is delivered through a combination of distance and face-to-face approaches, including week-long workshops at UCC and online group and individual tutorials.
