International Foundation Year

The University of Twente (UT) and Navitas have mutually decided that the current pathway provision at Twente Pathway College (TPC) will stop after the 2025–2026 academic year, with the final intake of students commenced in September 2025. There will be no Foundation recruitment for September 2026 and beyond.

Program Details

The Twente Pathway College International Foundation Year is a one-year preparatory education program. Students are only allowed to stay in the Netherlands for one year of preparatory education, after which they need to be enrolled at a higher education institution in the Netherlands to maintain their visa.

• If students pass the foundation year successfully, they have guaranteed admissibility to the bachelor's program they have chosen during their application for the Twente Pathway College International Foundation Year.
• There are different tracks that lead to different bachelor's programs.
• When students do not pass their foundation year successfully, there will be no option to start their studies at UT directly. However, there are different options available for students who still want to study at UT.

Gap Year Policy

Students are allowed to have one gap year after successfully completing their Twente Pathway College International Foundation Year. If students take a gap year, their Dutch residence permit will be revoked as they are no longer studying at UT. Students will then have to go through the visa process again if they decide to join UT after their gap year. Please note that students may take only one gap year, meaning that students who start their studies at Twente Pathway College (TPC) in 2025 must start their studies at UT no later than September 2027.

Alternative Pathways

The Hague Pathway College (THPC) offers academic pathways in partnership with The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). Successful completion of the THPC foundation leads to progression into a bachelor's degree at a university of applied sciences. However, the THPC is not admissible to the University of Twente, as it leads to different bachelor's degrees due to the binary educational system in the Netherlands. The University of Twente is a research university and not a university of applied sciences, resulting in a different curriculum in level and subject compared to Twente Pathway College (TPC).
