Master of Arts in Cultural Management

The Master of Arts in Cultural Management is a postgraduate program offered by the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Admission Information

To be eligible for admission, applicants must fulfill the entry requirement of Master’s programme stated on the Graduate School website. This includes:

• Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a Bachelor's degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class; or
• Graduated from an honours programme of a recognized university with a Bachelor's degree, normally achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
• Completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to an honours degree.

Qualification Criteria

The qualification criteria for the program include:

• Graduated from a recognized university and obtained a bachelor’s degree (major subjects are not restricted), normally with honours not lower than Second Class or achieving an average grade of not lower than "B"; or
• Completed a course of study in a tertiary education institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree; and
• Fulfill the "English Language Proficiency Requirement" as stipulated by the Graduate School before being considered for admission.

Procedures and Preparation

Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible since admission is competitive, and applications are processed on a rolling basis. Therefore, early applications are strongly encouraged.

2. Applicants are required to mail the following supporting documents to the Division after submitting in the online applications.

Required Supporting Documents

The required supporting documents include:

1. Copies of official transcripts (with a complete record of courses attended and examination results) and grading schemes of all tertiary level studies.
2. Copies of all tertiary certificates of academic/professional qualifications;
3. Proof of English language proficiency.
4. Confidential recommendations/referee’s report.
5. Copies of identity card or passport;
6. Personal CV in English and a personal statement (in English, 1-2 pages, A4 size, no actual word limit);
7. For Local applicant, Assessment report from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) on the level of qualification obtained for degrees awarded by overseas universities by distance learning or by completing a curriculum of short duration.
8. For Mainland applicant, please provide: Online Verification Reports issued by the CHESICC (學信網).

Application Deadline

The application deadline is 28 February 2026.

Application Result

Results will be announced on the Graduate School’s online system from January to June every year. Successful applicants will receive the offer letter by June of that admission year. Applicants may consider their applications unsuccessful if they do not hear from us thereafter.

Tuition Fee

The tuition fee for the program is:

• 1 year full-time: HKD$175,000 per annum (subject to University's Approval)
• 2 years part-time: HKD$87,500 per annum (subject to University's Approval)

1. Am I eligible for admission? Applicants must fulfill the entry requirement of Master’s programme stated on the Graduate School website.
2. What is the English Language Proficiency Requirement? Please refer to "English Language Proficiency Requirement".
3. For the Confidential Recommendation Form, should the referees be from the academic field? The referee can be a teacher, professor or academic advisor who is well acquainted with your current academic performance. Or someone who knows you well, such as a job supervisor at work, volunteer advisor.
4. What is the word limit for the personal statement? There is no actual word limit, around one to two pages of A4 paper, written in English.
5. Do I need to attend any interviews? Only shortlisted candidates will be invited a written statement as part of the admission process. The Division will further shortlist candidates for interview if applicable.
6. When is the application deadline? The application is open from **** to February every year.
7. When will I receive the notification of my application result? Application results will be posted on the Graduate School’s online system from January to June every year. Applicants may consider their applications unsuccessful if they do not hear from us thereafter.
8. (For non-local applicants) How can I apply for a valid visa to study in Hong Kong? If you are admitted to our programme, we will assist you to apply for entry permit from the Hong Kong Immigration Department and send the permit to you by courier.
9. (For non-local applicants) Is accommodation provided by the University? The University does not provide accommodation for postgraduate students of self-financed taught programmes. Students are responsible for their own accommodation.
10. Will there be any opportunity for local/overseas internship? The Programme offers CULS5322 Internship in Cultural Management every year. It provides students with opportunities to work at local and overseas cultural institutions for four to six weeks. Students could take it as a special elective course, but a selection process is required as the opportunities are limited. For details, please refer to Internships.
