Postgraduate Certificate in Older Person Rehabilitation

The Postgraduate Certificate in Older Person Rehabilitation is designed to provide students, from a range of different professional backgrounds, with interdisciplinary learning in the theory and practice of Older Person Rehabilitation.

Course Outline

The programme aims to equip students with the critical skills to evaluate rehabilitation models and settings, and the evidence base for current practices in older person rehabilitation. On completion of this course, students will have gained knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of key topics required to practice in stroke rehabilitation, and will be able to design, undertake, and evaluate quantitative and qualitative research in older person rehabilitation.

Skills and Careers Information

Following successful completion of the examinations for the Postgraduate Certificate in Older Person Rehabilitation, subject to the approval of the Programme Team, a student may opt to transfer to the MSc in Older Person Rehabilitation with exemptions granted for the modules already taken.

Requirements

• Candidates must have: A primary degree in a relevant healthcare discipline or an equivalent qualification and work experience to be approved by the Programme Team
• Ideally, candidates should have: Practical experience in their area of qualifications of at least one year post-registration
• Garda Vetting: Students or applicants in receipt of an offer on this programme will be subject to Garda Vetting
• Fitness to Practise: This programme will be subject to the University's Fitness to Practise Policy
• English Language Requirements: Applicants who are non-native speakers of the English language must meet the university-approved English language requirements

Fees and Costs

• General Applications: 3,000
• Springboard+ Applications: There are a limited number of places available on this programme funded by Springboard+
  • Those in employment can avail of a 90% fee subsidy (Fee payable: 300)
  • Those unemployed/returners can avail of a 100% fee subsidy
