Overview

Enhance your career in business management with this uniquely structured MRes Business Management and Social Justice. It brings together specialist research skills with the additional element of research advocacy training so that you can learn how to use your research for social justice aims.

The MRes Business Management and Social Justice course will provide you with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of current research in the field of business management. It will allow you to develop your skills in experimental design and data analysis. With our unique Research Advocacy and Social Justice core module, you will learn how to take your research to the next level by exploring how it can be used to address pressing global challenges within business management.

This MRes Business Management and Social Justice specifically targets global majority students (individuals from African, South Asian, South American and other non-white backgrounds) who are interested in postgraduate research study and pursuing a career in research.

The MRes in Social Justice is part of the Social Transformation and Advocacy through Research project (STAR), which aims to increase the participation of global majority individuals in postgraduate research.

Academic Requirements

• A university 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification.

International Qualifications

• We accept a wide range of European and international qualifications in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate and BTEC qualifications.

English Language Requirements

• IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing, Speaking, Listening and Reading (or recognised equivalent).

• Home Applicant, Full-time: £6,320 per year
• Home Applicant, Part-time: £3,160 per year

• Postgraduate Loans Scheme: £10,280 to fund your Masters Programme under the Postgraduate Loans (PGL) scheme

International Students

• Living costs: £1,265 per month to cover living costs (estimated by UK Visas and Immigration)
• Tuition fees: Payable in five monthly instalments over the first term

Additional Costs

• Textbooks: You may prefer to, or be required to, buy your own copy of key textbooks.
• Computer equipment: You may find it useful to have your own PC, laptop or tablet which you can use around campus and in halls of residences.
• Printing: Printing and photocopying costs are not included in your tuition fees.
• Travel: Travel costs are not included, but we do have a free intersite bus service which links the campuses and halls of residence.

Course Modules

• Making a Difference through Research Core Module: This module will guide you through research approaches suitable for a range of social research settings.
• Research Advocacy and Social Justice Core Module: This module will help you develop an in-depth knowledge, understanding and ability to apply key transferable skills such as oral and written presentations required for a postgraduate research degree.
• Research Advocacy through a Research Project Core Module: You will participate in a series of workshops to develop your research project and will then undertake a significant piece of independent research with support from a supervisor with expertise in your field of research.
