Modules

Year 1

• Techniques for Designing: This module introduces you to a set of tools for designing (materials, methods, attitudes and techniques) involved in design generally in both 2 & 3D design, including architectural drawings.
• Design Project: In the Design Project Core Module, you will engage in a variety of projects introducing you to the skills and practices essential in design.
• A&D Design Workshop: This A&D Design Workshop module introduces you to various art and design practical disciplines.
• Design Media: In the Design Media module, you will explore various contemporary media techniques relevant to design and artistic practice.
• History and Theory: In the History and Theory module, you will study key aspects of architecture and design as part of your architecture course.
• Mental Wealth Professional Life: In the Mental Wealth Professional Life Core Module, you will gain insight into the diverse types of architecture.

Year 2

• Design Investigation 2: The module provides a forum for you to develop a creative, inventive and productive design process for a design project or projects.
• Design Resolution 2: The aim of this module is to rehearse the production of more complex design projects in preparation for the final project undertaken in the final year.
• Material Integration 2: This module aims to relate design skills with the use and application of materials in the Term 2 main design project.
• Mental Wealth: Professional Life 2: Developing the key psychological and physical determinants of human performance is increasingly critical for successful graduate-level employment, entrepreneurship and career progression in the 4th industrial revolution.
• History and Theory 2: The module aims to orient and critically engage you in the subject of architecture and interior/product, and also in its relationship with urbanism and urban space through engaging with selected histories and theories, and by considering these about architecture contemporary practice.
• Technical Studies and Representation 2: The module aims to equip you with the knowledge and skills to engage with the technical demands of the main design project in Design Investigation 2, Design Resolution 2 and Design Integration 2, and to represent this appropriately.

Year 3

• Design Investigation 3: The module consolidates skills and knowledge gained at Levels 4 and 5.
• Design Resolution 3: The module consolidates skills and knowledge gained at Levels 4 and 5.
• Material Integration 3: This module builds on the knowledge gained from the two pre-requisites above.
• Mental Wealth: Professional Life 3: Developing the key psychological and physical determinants of human performance is increasingly critical for successful graduate-level employment, entrepreneurship and career progression in the 4th industrial revolution.
• Integrated Technology: This module establishes your ability to integrate the key areas of your technical design knowledge within the context of the final design project Design Investigation 3, Design Resolution 3 and Design Integration 3.
• Research Through Practice: The module aims to critically engage you in the subject of architecture and interiors with the related art and design technologies and human sciences through engaging with selected histories and theories, and by considering these about architecture contemporary practice.

How You'll Learn

In this interior architecture degree, you will learn how to create event and exhibition design, retail spaces, and new public realms, operating strategically with materials, atmospheres and technologies. You will be encouraged to experiment with conceptualisation and narration and find ways of intelligently tackling the design of human and experience-centric environments.

You will be provided with feedback throughout the year on your progress during tutorial sessions. All modules are assessed individually against specific criteria, at the end of the academic year. Studio work that is developed throughout the course will be assessed within a design portfolio with supporting studies in the form of a bound report.
