Entry requirements

• The entry requirement for this course is a Bachelor (Honours) Degree at 2:2 or above.
• We look for applicants to have a background in any discipline in order to be eligible for the programme.
• We may consider applicants with a lower degree classification if they have sufficient relevant work experience in the property / real estate industry.

English language

• If your first language isn't English, you'll normally need to undertake an approved English language test and our minimum English language requirements will apply.

International students

• Students will undertake two taught modules in each of Trimesters 1 and 2 of the first academic year and one taught module in each of the Trimesters 1 and 2 of the second academic year.
• The dissertation is started in the second year and submitted one trimester after completing the taught modules.

• Building Economics (BSV11111): Covers macroeconomic overview of the national economy, appraisal and analysis of the property and construction industries, economic models of urban location and growth, urban land economics, and the concept of building value.
• Dissertation (BSV11120): Focuses on research methodology, developing a proposal, designing a research strategy, literature reviews, data gathering, analysis, presentation, writing up, and presentation.
• Law and Administration: Property and Construction (BSV11106): Introduces legal concepts, jurisdiction, contract law, negligence, property law, leases, health and safety in construction, dispute resolution, construction contracts, and procurement strategies.
• Property Asset Management (BSV11109): Explores the role of the property asset manager, models of property asset management, registration, valuation, performance measurement, information technology for PAM, property asset management in corporate and public sectors, and corporate social responsibility.
• Property Investment Analysis (BSV11108): Assesses commercial property investments and their markets, examines conventional property appraisal and analysis, understands the application and limitations of contemporary appraisal methods, applies broader investment market analytic techniques to property investments, and contextualizes investment property markets.
• Real Estate Valuation (BSV11141): Provides an introduction to real estate valuation and appraisal, methodologies, strengths and limitations, appropriate contexts for application, definitions of value, financial mathematics used in investment appraisal, valuation methodologies, purposes and bases of valuation and appraisals, analysis and reporting of risk, professional guidelines and mandatory requirements of the RICS, and current issues in valuation, including sustainability.
• Sustainable Urban Property Development (BSV11125): Covers sustainable urban development, sustainable development, urban property development, development appraisal, sustainable urban property development protocol, environmental assessment methods, and case study applications.
