Medicine (Graduate Entry)

The Medicine (Graduate Entry) program at University College Cork is a four-year course designed for individuals who have already completed a bachelor's degree in any discipline. • Year 1: Fundamentals of Medicine I, II, and III, Integrated Patient-centered Clinical Science and Practice, and Health and Disease in Society I.
• Year 2: Fundamentals of Medicine IV, Junior Clinical Elective, Professionalism and Patient-Centered Practice, Clinical Medicine I and II, Health, Disease and Society II, and Research for Medicine and Health I.
• Year 3: Psychiatry, Behavioural Medicine, Reproduction, Pregnancy, Child Health and Development, Fundamentals of Adult Disease, and Forensic Medicine and the Coroner's Court.
• Year 4: Principles and Practice of Surgery, Internal Medicine and General Practice, Paediatrics and Child Health, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Preparedness for Professional Practice.

Course Practicalities

The program includes early patient contact and clinical teaching, with a strong emphasis on research methodology and opportunities for research projects. Students will undertake full-time clinical placements in hospital and community settings from the second semester of Year 2.

Requirements

To be eligible for the Graduate Entry to Medicine program, applicants must:

• Hold or expect to hold a minimum of a second-class honors, grade one (2H1 or equivalent) result in their first honors bachelor degree (NFQ level 8) in any discipline.
• Compete based on their Graduate Australian Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT) scores.
• Non-EU applicants must have educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate and satisfy the university of their competency in the English language.

Fees and Costs

The EU fee for the program is 15,250 plus a 207 capitation fee. Full tuition fees must be paid as Graduate Entry to Medicine is not covered under the Free Tuition Fees Scheme.
